Jeffrey Bloom’s Testimony

Jeffrey Bloom’s Testimony

My parents were Scandinavians and lived in Minneapolis, MN. I grew up enjoying family from both parents sides. I would say my home life was good although my dad could be stern and a hard task master. He smoked cigars and cigarettes and had a quick temper. God worked in his life and my dad became a Christian. He stopped smoking and was a happier man. We started to go to church as a family.
One day when I was in the second grade my teacher said there was a man who wanted to give us each a gift. He was a Gideon. I received my first bible, a brown New Testament. I was glad, my Sunday School teacher would give me more points for bringing my bible to church. One evening I was trying to read the Bible verses on the inside back cover. Verses like John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Acts 16:31 and more. I asked my father what did these verses mean. He told me the Gospel using these verses and asked me if I wanted to be saved. I said yes, so we knelt next to my bed and he led me in the sinner’s prayer for salvation. As an adult, I have been asked to attend numerous Gideon’s banquet’s to share this testimony and mention that faithful Gideon who gave me my first Bible.
Although I was saved I did not grow very much in my Christian life and walk. The church we were attending then was fighting and the Lord was not being honored. One day my friends asked me to go to an Easter Challenge over the weekend at Emmaus Bible School in Oak Park, IL. I went and I was so impressed with the students who were attending there who loved the Lord and wanted to grow in Christ.
I enrolled and went the next fall to Bible School. I loved it. One of our requirements was to read through the Bible our first year in school. In March of 1965 I was reading Isaiah towards this responsibility and God worked and moved in my heart. I did what Romans 12: 1-2 says, and gave God my heart and my life and my future. I gave Him my all. Here I was at 3:00 in the morning weeping with joy and giving this dedication of my life to the Lord.
The Lord has been faithful to me and has blessed my life. I met my lovely wife Alyce there and we were married after graduation in June of 1967. I also attended Colorado Christian
University and Denver Seminary. After graduation, I worked in a bank and then a Savings & Loan for 10 years. But God then called me to full time Christian service and I took my wife and three children to Clovis, NM to work in a cross-cultural ministry among Spanish Americans. I have been a full time Christian worker among New Testament Churches for 43 years.
